T<\/span> he story of Fucina Frammenti<\/a>, a young design brand based in Murano Venice, is one that deserves to be told. At the origins of an innovative idea

We asked ourselves: “what if we tried to create starting from what others consider waste?” This is how Clara recounts the spark that gave birth to Fucina Frammenti<\/a> in 2019<\/strong>, an idea that matured during her thesis and was shared with a group of fellow designers. Together, they began to explore the potential of glass residues<\/strong>, including “galotte<\/strong>,” which are the end parts of blown pieces that are detached and usually discarded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Noble Waste Mix philosophy

From here, the philosophy of “Noble Waste Mix” takes shape, which is based on four ingredients: research<\/strong>, noble waste material<\/strong>, energy impact<\/strong>, and positive supply chain<\/strong>. “The ideal goal is to arrive at 100% recovered products, starting from waste with an intrinsic value, which are reinterpreted without high-impact processes,” explains Clara. To minimize energy expenditure, in fact, Fucina Frammenti tries not to use hot transformation processes: for example, Murano glass is not remelted, but they start from already formed pieces using cold working techniques.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The creative process of Fucina Frammenti<\/a> is based precisely on the constraints<\/strong> given by the recovered materials. “Working with a predefined shape forces you to think outside the box, to find new solutions,” says Clara. The team constantly compares notes, in a process of contamination between different perspectives and skills. A concrete example is the table lamp from the Parigi 142 <\/strong> collection, born from the recovery of a galotta. The challenge was to integrate a light source into an already given glass shape without distorting it. Behind every Fucina Frammenti <\/a> creation is a continuous dialogue with various interlocutors, including the Murano furnaces. The noble waste materials can come from different stages of the production process<\/strong>, from the initial activity to the rigorous quality tests that often penalize products with minimal imperfections. To fuel this vision, Fucina Frammenti<\/a> is about to launch a new project: a shared materials library with selected external designers. In a special box<\/strong>, they will find different types of Noble Waste<\/strong> \u2013 glass, marble, screen printing \u2013 accompanied by a brief. The invitation is to let yourself be inspired by these “noble waste” to imagine new sustainable projects.
