By marrying Lucia, daughter of the glassmaker Girolamo Vistosi, Bussolin came into contact with the world of <\/span>glass<\/b> and was captivated by it. Shortly after, in 1835, he took over his father-in-law’s business, starting a journey that would mark the rebirth of Murano glassmaking art.<\/span>\n\nAn Avant-Garde Workshop Bussolin wasted no time. By 1838, his workshop was already a jewel of innovation, with one furnace dedicated to the preparation of the cane for <\/span>“conterie”<\/b> and another for<\/span> glass<\/b> and<\/span> crystal<\/b>.. In a period of decline for the Murano glass industry, Bussolin understood that the key to revival lay in the past. He rediscovered ancient techniques, such as <\/span>filigree glass<\/b> and<\/span> lace glass<\/b>, reinterpreting them with flair and passion. Bussolin’s creations enchanted Europe. His <\/span>filigree glass<\/b>, with its interlacing of milky threads on a crystalline background, was true lace of light. His <\/span>“millefiori” canes,<\/b>with their vibrant floral decorations, anticipated the revival of this ancient technique. And his <\/span>murrine<\/b>, sections of canes of a thousand colors, became small jewels coveted by collectors.<\/span><\/p>

Despite difficulties, such as the forced closure of the furnace in 1841, Bussolin never gave up. He continued to experiment, to seek new paths, to pass on his knowledge to new generations. His legacy still lives on today in the furnaces of Murano, where his innovative spirit continues to inspire master glassmakers.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Domenico Bussolin was not only a great glass artist but also a tireless promoter of his art. He wrote the first serious history of Murano glassmaking art, the “Guide to the Glass Factories of Murano”, helping to make the island’s extraordinary tradition known to the world.<\/span><\/p>

He participated in numerous<\/span> exhibitions<\/b>,from Vienna to Paris, obtaining prizes and awards that testify to his talent and dedication. His <\/span>sample books<\/b> of canes and murrine, true masterpieces of technical mastery and aesthetic taste, are now preserved as treasures at the Murano Glass Museum. <\/span><\/p>

Bussolin left us not only wonderful works but above all a precious teaching: the art of glass is a living language, which is constantly renewed by drawing on its own history.
